OUR ANALYSIS... Finally, we can now consider the 18 starting scores you could be faced with, and the 10 Dealer scores, and find the “expected” value at each point. This can be summarised in the follow files. (Download the results if you want see all details). Your HAND SCORE is 4 DEALER’S CARD is 2 The expected return is not minimised until we get to having 4 cards; at that point we risk 20% of going bust; but you will only lose 11p in the £ if you aim for this. Your best chance is the Dealer going Bust, and it will happen 36% of the time when starting with a 2. A score of 16 to 18 should be aimed at. | DEALER’S CARD is 7 7 is a difficult starting point, we will lose 10p in £, due to the ability of the dealer to reach 37%; around 30% of just one card. We need at least 18 to see us home; or try 4 cards to get the minimum losses. | DEALER’S CARD is 3 The expected return is not minimised until we get to having 4 cards; at that point we risk 21% of going bust; but you will only lose 8p in the £ if you aim for this. Your best chance is the Dealer going Bust, and it will happen 40% of the time when starting with a 3. You will win over time with any score greater than 18. | DEALER’S CARD is 8 At 8, our losses get to 19p in the £ when starting on a 4 vs. 8. Once again, we need to take 4 cards. | DEALER’S CARD is 4 DEALER starting with 4 is interesting; if we stick after 2 cards, we will lose 9p in £ over time, and it is the same after 3 cards….we only limit this loss to 3p in £ by taking 4 cards. A score of 17 or more will see returns; with the Dealer busting 45% from a 4. | DEALER’S CARD is 9 When playing against a 9 Vs our 4, we minimise our losses to 27p in £ after 4 cards. Still not an advisable situation as we need to get to 19 to breathe a sigh of relief. | DEALER’S CARD is 5 Again, we need to take 4 cards, but our expected return is a PROFIT of 1p in the £. From a 5, the dealer busted 47% of the time. 17 or more sees profit. | DEALER’S CARD is 10 When playing against a 10 Vs our 4, we minimise our losses to 34p in £ after 4 cards. Once again, 19 will be an ideal stopping point; we get there 28% of the time. | DEALER’S CARD is 6 At 6, the dealer's chance of busting reduced to 44%; and so from a 4 ourselves, we will return a loss of 3p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is “A” Never advisable against an A, but we will lose 41p in £ with this hand, after 4 cards. They will hit BJ 33% in simulation; so not good to take insurance either. | Your HAND SCORE is 5 DEALER’S CARD is 2 When the Dealer has a 5, against your 4, going to 4 cards minimises the losses with an expected return of a loss of 19p in £. Try to get to 18, although the Dealer does bust 36% of the time. | DEALER’S CARD is 7 When we are playing 7, we have to chase from a 5, you need at least 18 and 4 cards, will see a 17p loss. | DEALER’S CARD is 3 Anywhere between 2 and 4 cards will lose you less than 20p in this scenario, 4 cards minimises us to an expected loss of 16p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is 8 When we are playing 8, we have to go for it from a 5, you need at least 18 and 4 cards, will see a 26p loss. | DEALER’S CARD is 4 This scenario is interesting, when we hold a 5 against a 4, we should contain our losses to 11p. With a bust rate of 45% of the time, 4 cards also take us to bust 29% of time, so this scenario when played out in simulation is stick with 3 cards, and hope the dealer busts. Play it safe. | DEALER’S CARD is 9 Another situation when taking 4 cards will minimise the losses; taking 4 cards will result in a 34p loss and we need 19 to see a better than not chance of returns. | DEALER’S CARD is 5 5 against 5, our losses are minimised at 2 or 3 cards, we only lose 5p in £. It may be worth chasing, but you will lose 8p in £ at 4 card mark. Play it safe, stick at any number, they go bust 47% of the time. | DEALER’S CARD is 10 Going up to 4 cards reduces our expected losses from 58p to 40p, so against a 10, we need to go for it. 19 will see a breakeven. | DEALER’S CARD is 6 When you are playing a 6, we are back to taking 4 cards to minimise the losses at 11p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is “A” Going up to 4 cards reduces our expected losses from 56p to 46p, so against a “A”, we need to go for it. It is going to be tough. | Your HAND SCORE is 6 DEALER’S CARD is 2 At 2 cards, we get a 28p expected loss, at 3 cards, it is 27p loss and 25p loss at 4 cards. It is much of a much-ness, but 4 cards is the minimal loss even if we bust a few times more than we like. Stopping at 18 or more will give us the best chances of victory when we have 6 and Dealer shows a 2. | DEALER’S CARD is 7 Now the dealer is up to 7, we are only 6, we have to go for it! 4 cards will minimise us at 22p, even if we bust nearly 40% of the time, we can then get 18 or more to improve the situation from 40p+ losses at 2 and 3 cards. | DEALER’S CARD is 3 At 2 cards, we get a 19p expected loss, at 3 cards, it is 18p loss and 23p loss at 4 cards. Going for 3 cards is the minimal loss even if it seems cautious. 17 or under will be cautious as that is all you can achieve at 3 cards. | DEALER’S CARD is 8 Again the dealer is up to 8, we are only 6, we have to go for it! 4 cards will minimise us at 29p, even if we bust nearly 40% of the time, we can then get 18 or more to improve the situation from 50p+ losses at 2 and 3 cards. | DEALER’S CARD is 4 When we have a 6, against a 4, sticking after 2 or 3 cards may seem perverse, but we cannot go bust whereas the dealer goes bust 45% of time. Stick around 16-17. Our losses are minimised to 9p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is 9 Again the dealer is up to 9, we are only 6, we have to go for it! 4 cards will minimise us at 36p, even if we bust nearly 40% of the time, we can then get 19 or more to have a better than even chance of scoring a victory improve the situation from 57p and 56p losses at 2 and 3 cards respectively... | DEALER’S CARD is 5 Once again, when we have a 6, against a 5, sticking after 3 cards may seem perverse, but we cannot go bust whereas the dealer goes bust 47% of time. Stick around 16-17. Our losses are minimised to 4p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is 10 Go for it! 4 cards will minimise us at 43p, we can then get 19 or more to have a better than even chance of scoring a win to improve the situation from 58p and 57p losses at 2 and 3 cards respectively... | DEALER’S CARD is 6 Take 3 cards increases the chances of restricting your losses to 11p from 13p, as we can get 17, but with 44% of Dealer starting from 6 going bust, again 16 to 17 is the target. | DEALER’S CARD is “A” Against an A, we will always get a 50p in £ loss when we have just a 6. 2 cards will give us 56p, 3 cards 55p, so go for it, take 4 and minimise your losses to 50p in £. | Your HAND SCORE is 7 DEALER’S CARD is 2 Minimise our losses with 3 cards to 21p in £ and aim for 17 or more when playing a 2. | DEALER’S CARD is 7 When we are in a 7 on 7 situation, our best way out is 3 cards, and our expected loss will be 27p. | DEALER’S CARD is 3 Minimise our losses with 3 cards to 13p in £ and aim for 17 or more when playing a 3 with a 7. | DEALER’S CARD is 8 Now we are in 7 Vs 8 situation, we need to go to 4 cards, the obvious reason being 30% of the time, the dealer can take out 18 with a ten as his second card. We will bust more of the time, but our losses will be 36p in the £. | DEALER’S CARD is 4 Minimise our losses with 3 cards to 3p in £ and aim for 17 or more when playing a 4 with a 7. Even sticking at 2 cards, will give us a gentle loss expected of 9p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is 9 Go for it….Now we are in 7 Vs 9 situation, we need to go to 4 cards. We will bust more of the time, but our losses will be 42p in the £. | DEALER’S CARD is 5 We can get a 1p in £ profit by taking 3 cards in total ( 1 more card); we have no chance of busting from 7, and the Dealer is at high risk from 5. | DEALER’S CARD is 10 Whether we take 1 additional card, or 2, we are going to lose around 50p in the £ when facing a 10 from a 7. Losses can be minimised at 4, with 49p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is 6 From a 6, the dealer has a better chance against our 7 so to minimise our losses we need to take 1 additional card, and expect a 5p in the £. | DEALER’S CARD is “A” Against the Ace, take one additional card as the Dealer can still go bust, but you will still lose 51p in £ as the expected value. | Your HAND SCORE is 8 DEALER’S CARD is 2 ( free download) From a starting 8, we can minimise our losses with just 1 additional card. 3 cards will give us an expected loss of 7p in the £. | DEALER’S CARD is 7 From an 8 vs. 7 for the Dealer, one more card will minimise our loss to 3p in £. 18 or more sees us get a win, but anything less and we risk going bust with 4 cards. | DEALER’S CARD is 3 From an 8 Vs 3, we can minimise our losses with 1 additional card. 3 cards will give us an expected loss of 1p in the £. | DEALER’S CARD is 8 On an 8 Vs 8, 3 cards minimise our losses to 22p in £. Target 18 or more. | DEALER’S CARD is 4 Now we start to see a profit, 3 cards starting from an 8 will give us a win rate of 8p in the £; no chance of busting. | DEALER’S CARD is 9 On an 8 Vs Dealer's 9, 3 cards minimise our losses to 38p in £. | DEALER’S CARD is 5 A profit! 3 cards starting from an 8 against a Dealer's 5 will give us a win rate of 13p in the £; no chance of busting. | DEALER’S CARD is 10 On an 8 Vs Dealer's 10, 3 cards minimise our losses to 40p in £! | DEALER’S CARD is 6 In an 8 Vs Dealer's 6, one more card will see us get an expected win of 7p in the £. | DEALER’S CARD is “A” To be expected against an Ace, we keep in the red. On an 8 Vs Dealer's A, 3 cards minimise our losses to 40p in £. | Your HAND SCORE is 9 DEALER’S CARD is 2 When you have a 9 Vs 2, take one more card and we get an expected win of 4p in the £. We are playing on the Dealer going bust again. | DEALER’S CARD is “A” In a 14 Vs A scenario, now we MUST risk it to slightly minimise our losses, the Dealer is likely to score well. We take a card and take an expected loss of 53p against the 56p in the stick option. | Your HAND SCORE is 15 DEALER’S CARD is 2 In a 15 Vs 2 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 28p against the 43p if we take another card and risk the bust! | DEALER’S CARD is 7 In a 15 Vs 7 scenario, we experience the switch….the dealer is less likely to bust and more likely to score well. Need to take a card to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 39p against the 46p if we stick....we need to risk the bust! | DEALER’S CARD is 3 In a 15 Vs 3 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 19p against the 42p if we take another card and risk the bust! We would prefer the dealer to bust. | DEALER’S CARD is 8 In a 15 Vs 8 scenario, the dealer is less likely to bust and more likely to score well. Need to take a card to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 45p against the 54p if we stick....we need to risk the bust! Not an ideal situation! | DEALER’S CARD is 4 In a 15 Vs 4 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 9p against the 40p if we take another card and risk the bust! The variance is due to the Dealer's increased chances of going bust. | DEALER’S CARD is 9 In a 15 Vs 9 scenario, we need to take a card to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 50p against the 57p if we stick....we need to risk the bust! Not an ideal situation! | DEALER’S CARD is 5 In a 15 Vs 5 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 5p against the 38p if we take another card and risk the bust! The variance is due to the Dealer's increased chances of going bust. | DEALER’S CARD is 10 In a 15 Vs 10 scenario, we need to take a card to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 56p against the 58p if we stick....we need to risk the bust and not much to gain either. | DEALER’S CARD is 6 In a 15 Vs 6 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 13p against the 39p if we take another card and risk the bust! The variance is due to the Dealer's increased chances of going bust. | DEALER’S CARD is “A” In a 15 Vs A scenario, this simulation bucks the senses. Again, it must be pointed out it is based on our data sense, but we know that the Dealer is more likely to bust from an Ace than a 10 (21.9% Vs 21.1% in simulation), so stick and lose 56p. Our expected loss in simulation by taking another card was 61p. Again, a marginal call, but we have to go with the lower figure. | Your HAND SCORE is 16 DEALER’S CARD is 2 In a 16 Vs 2 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 28p against the 48p if we take another card and risk the bust! | DEALER’S CARD is 7 In a 16 Vs 7 scenario, we go through the switch….we need to risk it and take another card to minimise the loss; take an expected loss of 43p against the 46p if we stick and hope the dealer goes bust. | DEALER’S CARD is 3 In a 16 Vs 3 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 19p against the 48p if we take another card and risk the bust! From 16 that is a real risk! | DEALER’S CARD is 8 In a 16 Vs 8 scenario, we need to risk it and take another card to minimise the loss; take an expected loss of 48p against the 54p if we stick. | DEALER’S CARD is 4 In a 16 Vs 4 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 9p against the 46p if we take another card and risk the bust! From 16 that is a real risk! The difference between the 9p and 46p is this effective difference between us and the dealer going bust. We need them to go bust to cash out. | DEALER’S CARD is 9 In a 16 Vs 9 scenario, we need to risk it and take another card to minimise the loss; take an expected loss of 53p against the 57p if we stick. Got to risk it. | DEALER’S CARD is 5 In a 16 Vs 5 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 5p against the 44p if we take another card and risk the bust! In this simulation, we would lose 58p rather than 59p!!! | DEALER’S CARD is 6 In a 16 Vs 6 scenario, stick to minimise your losses, take an expected loss of 13p against the 46p if we take another card and risk the bust!
